Gryphon’s Lair Cooks Guild.
So far we have people interested in Cooking and Baking with some Brewing and Herbalism. Anyone with interests in these or related items within the scope of the SCA time frame is welcome. We will be covering topics as interest and resources dictate.
We will be holding meetings once a month on a Saturday, with the least conflict with events, for the next month (January) we will continue to meet at Lady Gwynnyth’s keep. We will start at noon, most weeks will be two to three hours. In February we will start meeting at HL Allegretza’s .
January we will meet on Saturday the 14th, we will do fresh whole milk ricotta, and bread in a dutch oven, we will also go over Ideas for event lunches in a more period manner. From the outdoor tourney picnic lunch or indoor lunch at a court event to a full sideboard.
February will be on the 11th and this will be the first meeting at HL Allegretza’s, 4667 So 2075 E, Roy, UT. We will have a Valentines theme, Food of Love, period aphrodisiacs, love potions and romantic food. Everybody’s home work assignment for this one will be Chocolate, when, where, who, how ect. Anything you can find out about chocolate IN period or as close to period as you can find.
March will be on the 17th and our theme will be GREEN. Period food that is green either naturally such as lettuce or colored green for looks.
We will also learn about the history and origins of the Holidays, facts & myths associated with them, how of if they where celebrated in period.
Most months will have a small fee to help cover cost of supplies/ingredients $1-3, TBD.
