12th Night Celebration

Event Information: 

Their excellencies HE Asgierr Rekke I Dane and HE Allesandria de Cappela, invite one and all to come join them in fun, frivolity, and prizes come join us in the traditional final celebration of the holiday season Twelfth Night! This is an investiture night for our new baron and/or baroness for the Barony of Gryphon's Lair HE Owen y Bwa ap Howell and HE Malkin Allardson.

As a non-combat event, we will be hosting several non-combat prize activities & tournaments, to include Arts and Sciences, gaming tournament, masked ball, bardic night, As these will be open to all there will be a grand champion, who will receive a prize.

Show off your skills in our Arts & Sciences Competition. Our three categories this year are: A nautical item (any medium, any period). Ideas: Navigation item, rope, bucket, safety, every day tools, etc. An item for the hands, head or feet (any medium, any period). Ideas: Gloves, shoes, socks, comb, brush, patterns etc. Something to carry liquid in (any medium, any period). Ideas: for a journey, in the home, at work.

Battle it out for in The Lord of Games tournament, where you will show off your gaming prowess at period games.

The Barony of Gryphon’s Lair encourages your participation in our first ever “Buy a Bard” Fundraiser. Performers, prepare a small SCA Portfolio of your performing arts skills, experiences and accolades and offer your artistic services to the highest bidder. Patrons, offer your financial contribution to support your performing artist through a silent auction. Patrons will each be recognized with a Patron’s Medallion to honor them for their contribution. Prizes will be awarded for the Patron and Performer in the following categories: Best Original Composition, Most Entertaining Performance, Best Historic Performance, Most Humorous Performance, Popular Choice, King’s Choice, Queen’s Choice, Baron’s Choice, based on the consensus of the attending Baronage, Baroness’ Choice, based on the consensus of the attending Baronage. You can enchant the populace with your best songs, poems or stories.

Enchant, dance and socialize the evening away while wearing masks in our masked ball. Create a Mask, any medium, any period, to be worn at the masked ball. A prize will be awarded to the best mask at the ball.

Classes include middle eastern dancing, court dancing, heraldry, fighting workshop, courtly graces, flower of chivalry, rapier guard and stance, and scroll layout.

No Twelfth Night would be complete without a feast!
Appiteizer: Zucchini soup with bacon served with bread and herb cheese
Entree: Pork roasht with roasted vegetables and a side salad
Dessert: Fruit compot cream and lavander short bread cookies

Event Location: 

151 S 1100 W, Farmington, UT 84025. Site opens as 8 am and closes at 10 pm. Site is dry.

From the north: Head south on I-15 / I-84 E; take exit 325 toward US-89 N / Fairgrounds / Lagoon. Use the right 2 lanes to turn right onto Park Lane. Turn left onto N 1100 W. At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit and stay on N 1100 W.

From the south: From I-15 N, take exit 322 for UT-227 / Lagoon Drive toward Farmington. Keep left at the fork to continue toward Lagoon Drive. Continue on Lagoon Drive. Turn left onto W State St and W 100 N / W Clark Lane. At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit onto N 1100 W. Destination will be on the left.
